According to my repair manual the nipple for the clutch is slightly above half way up in the reservor. I did not see a place showing how low it had to be to activate the low brake fluid light.

Even if it was at the bottom of the reservoir there'd likely still be enough fluid in the M/C to properly operate the brakes.
I can't recall if my 307d had a brake light indicator but I do know I lost my clutch from low fluid and the brakes were fine with no indicator light showing.

Mercedes switched slave cylinder mounting positions on the allumnium cased trannys midyear in 1981. (Or 123.123 chassis) I had the 123.123 case and ill tell you what.. its one of the damndest things ive ever done, for one the part cost me 95 dollars, and to get it out you have to turn two 13mm bolts forever (Because the bolts are like four inches long and thread All the way in) And i didnt have an aircompressor to use my air rachet... i was using a box end wrench.. Sitting under there forever turning the bolt halfway while its raining at night is crazy man!

I could not get the clutch to reverse bleed for the life of me. I spent several hours trying to do it exactly as the manual said to.

Finally got out the vacuum bleeder and in 5 minutes I had a perfectly working clutch.

Bleeding the lines after a clutch master is one of the most frustrating tasks on a benz.

I just changed mine last week. My tranny is aluminum case and on the passenger side. I had a hard time getting it out and trying to get it back on. I didn't have the car up on ramps and the space was very cramped. I bought some ramps, but I couldn't jack up the car enough to put them under the wheels. The car isn't running so I couldn't drive it up on the ramps. I put a 4 inch piece of wood under the passenger wheel. It made it doable to get the slave cylinder back in, plus the plastic spacer.
Anybody have the part number for the metal 'brake' line assembly. I had the hose part replaced and they shortend it to much to use the clamp. I have some other ideas on how to make something up though.

just heard from the mechanic. It is a leaking clutch slave cylinder. $212.56 out the door. I was kinda pissed at having to pay a professional to install a $75 part, but after hearing Cervan and others it sounds like money well spent. Thanks for all the help once again, this forum makes mercedes ownership a pleasure and privilege.
