When it says will fit '85945' or '85946' where do i find which mine is? VIN?

617 01109 01? I found that printed on the side of the block under the glow plugs. I'm not finding any # that looks like 89546 or -5. Where on the block should I be looking?

The parts catalogs always give you cutoff or range numbers. Your's will be before or after that number, or within a certain number range.

More than likely it refers to your chassis number which is the last 5 digits of your vin.
