Help Guys

Men I need help, 1982 300D. I was driving along at about 45 MPH when I noticed
That the engine was speeding up, I though that the transmission had down shifted,
But the more I think about I believe the transmission was slipping, I stopped shifted
From D to R several times then drove off it shifted normal into 2nd
Then would not shift into 3rd. I tried this several times same thing every time.
I have had this car 4 months always shifted great with no problems, I have no
History on the car. Can anyone share ideas as to what might be the problem.
Thanks……………………Norm

Check your kickdown switch. Check to make sure the bowden cable is operating correctly. Do a search on transmission vacuum adjustment. Check your fluid. Do a search on Superior Shift kit. Look for another transmission.

arrg. is your bowden cable intact? how is the fluid level on the tranny? park in a perfectly level spot, let the car idle and pull the dipstick. if it's low, that could account for it. more than likely it's transmission rebuild time... new piston, clutches etc...

Transmission service

Have you done a transmission service on it. Usually something most Benz owners try to do after acquiring a used Benz, unless you have good proof that it was done recently before you got the car. It still is possible that your transmission is due for a rebuild. They last 200,000 to 300,000 usually, as I see it. But if you have no idea of when it was serviced, I would recommend changing the fluid in the trans and converter and install a new filter. I would recommend adding a quart of Lucas transmission oil along with the necessary 7 quarts of Dextron II. That might solve the problem. It also might be $50.00 or so bucks out the window. The job is pretty simple. Good write ups in the DIY section.
