240D melted blower motor fuse in box

It seems that my son's car somehow melted blower motor fuse in the fuse box. The fuse is intact, and in fact rated lower than the spec'd amps, but wondering what might have melted the plastic away from the fuse. Plastic melted and contact end receded into plastic box. It's right infront of the headlights fuse. I made a quick repair with a phillips screw which although I cut it very short , the screw has bottomed out in the headlamp circuit and now the car has "daytime headlights" (high beam). I'm planning on swapping out the fuse box when the temps warm a bit. Anyone have a clue to why this might have happened? the melting issue.
