Exclamation Brakes need advice

ok so i am going to buy a brand new brake caliper for my car (Brand New). Ok the driver side was just replaced with a reman about 1 month ago. is it ok to run a brand new caliper with a rebuild, so in other words the driver side front is reman and the pass. front is brand new. I am not quite sure so I thought i would just ask the question.

It's fine, It just has to be the same manufacture on each axle. ATE or Bendix on the same axle.
I have rebuilt calipers from O'reillys on the 240D (all 4 ) rears on the 300TD and now all 4 on the 300D without any problems, going on about 3 years on the 240D and 5 years on the 300TD.

Just curious, if a reman was good enough for one side, why isn't one good enough for the other side?

because i have had to return remans about 5 times in the last month because they kept braking or leaking. I just want something that i know will work and not having the car work for about 2 months is really getting on my nerves.

I wouldn't hesitate to mix brands on the axle. They are fully interchangible.

Here is a quote from the W123 Service Manual:

"The calipers on one axle should have the same piston diameter. In addition, only calipers of the same manufacturer may be installed on one axle."

this quote also means that mixing reman with new is a NO NO... cause the reman will be honed out, making the bore a larger diameter on one side...
plus, if you had 5 remans fail, I would not keep the reman on my car. get TWO new calipers... or change your source of remans.

Bore size is irrelevant. Piston diameter is what matters.

the bore size does matter because you cant have a loose piston in the bore. the piston must match the bore width. otherwise it would just leak.

All pistons are loose in the bore.

yes but what are the tolerances? they are very small, if they have to hone out the bore wont that make the piston looser in the bore causing leaks.

The honing will not increase the bore enough to matter, and the piston size is what matters for sure anyway.

The fluid is pushing on the piston not the bore. (well it is pusing on the bore too but the bore is not moving).
