GP's, Injector R&R & pop testing report

Got some really good news this weekend, my mechanic buddy was able to get my GP's & injectors out without taking off intake manifold on the wife's 91 2.5L 300D.

I had one GP that was broken, I will test them later this week to see how many were up to spec's. One injector that was leaking, so that problem will be cured. Car should really be in premo shape when all is done this week.

Until two weeks ago I was unable to find a shop to repair & pop test my injectors without making a 3 to 4 hour one way trip. Lucky for me I found a shop in Sikeston MO (50 miles one way) that will do the rebuild & pop testing for $25 an injector.

If my garage is warm enough today (16*F this am) and I have the time, I may do the rebuild myself. I have a set of Bosio nozzels for this car that I got from Paul @ Kerma TDI and I hope to see a real change in cars performance. The shop will be doing the injectors tomorrow and with luck I will have the rebuilt & tested injectors reinstalled and the car back from my friends shop by Wednesday. I will report my impressions and observations here on how the car preforms.

Alright- I am glad you were able to find a shop reasonably close. sounds like they are reasonably priced, too.

sounds like your getting some of our cold air down there- finally above zero today.....

We had a heat wave today and the temp hit upper 30's, I need to move further south.

Seems the reason the #5 injector was leaking was due to cracked injector body, well I guess it could have been worse. The shop said they are not expensive and he could have me one tomorrow, so maybe I won't have to run the wife around too long.

Anyone know what is the torque required for the injectors when I put them back in tomorrow night?

Yikes that's a lot! I just R&R my injectors on OM606 motor. MB Service Manual states 40 NM torque for the injectors which is 29.5 ft/lbs.

Edit: OldNavy, are you the same as from tdiclub.com?

There has been CRD's here as well as MB's and Studeybakers. We are not proud, so the invite is out to you to make the trip. Never can tell who shows up, vendors, tech's that can help solve a problem or someone in a classic MB or as this last time a Studybaker.
