HELP!!! Lost keys....

The problem is that i recently Had my ignition tumbler replaced. The car came with 2 keys. Which means i had one of those keys on my key ring, along with the single key i had to start my car. I still have they key to get into my car, but i lost tthe one to start it, and the other one to open it.
My mechanic tells me he cant pull the tumbler out withough breaking it. A new one cost a crap load. However he can probly hook me up with another used one.
What should i do?
-thanks

... find the key.

the dealer can order you a new tumbler with a key for around 100.00 and it will match your door keys

but you gotta get the old tumbler out.
without the key, it is a MAJOR pain in the A&&

I'm sure you've thought of this, but do you have the original box or packaging the current tumbler came in??

Wow...that's a real pain you're in....

You should've lost your door key and not your ignition key! You could've used the vin to get another for like $16.00.

Anyway, if you have original packaging it may have numbers needed for correct cutting. I can't imagine the package not coming with some sort of paperwork with info needed for cutting a key.

Good Luck,

Bulletproof A

Sorry for your trouble, good luck.

I am key anal....I ALWAYS have another set of keys that NOBODY knows about....nobody knows where they are but ME...not the wife, not the kid...nobody. Since I started doing this, I have never "lost" a key again.

Downside is 30+ years of car, truck, motorcycle, house, deer lease, tool box, and misc. keys = about half a shoe box full of dead keys! Just thought...maybe I can use them as catfishing weights.

2x on "Key Anal"

Have no desire to jinx myself, buy have had the same key chain since 1981 ... Darn, that's older than my MB!!!

And I STILL have duplicates and TRIPLICATES of all my keys.

Wish I could be more helpful, but a lesson learned hard, is a lesson learned well!

No desire to be hard on you, and after a few brews it doesn't sound harsh too me, forgive if I offend PLS!

ya ever locked the only key you have in the ignition with the engine running? I have, fortunately I called the previous owner, and they had a spare key and brought it to me...
I carry a spare key in my wallet to each car I drive, plus the keys on the normal keychain I use, plus a full set in the wife's purse, plus a set of keys in my other pocket... I HATE losing a key... I also have all the original keys on a chain in a drawer in my office desk.
