Ok, so then it's really just the O-rings that need attention? I've often read about replacing the fuel lines, but is it generally the O-rings that are air leak culprits? I certainly don't mind the idea of buying new fuel lines, but not if it's unnecessary.
From what other people are saying it sounds like the o-rings are the culprits. Since my fuel lines seems to be kind of hard (all originals) plus they don't cost that much so they're getting done on my car.

Also, found this post. Scroll halfway down the first page and Rick Miley posted just about everything you'll need w/ MB parts #'s. It's for a 99 E300 and has gaskets as well.

You'll never know unless you "test" them to find out.....

True. However, if it were a "high risk" issue like the plugs, you bet I will take them out every now and then. However, I don't see them as a high risk issue like the plugs, do you?

If the fuel lines themselves don't look bad, you may be best off to replace the o-rings with Viton equivalents found on the McMaster Carr site....

The fuel lines were all replaced 2 years ago, and they look pretty good (the ones I can see, anyway).

The more I think about it, the more I think I'll try the GPs. If any won't come out at 45nm, then they'll stay in, but if they all come out then I'll ream & anti-seize them.

Reamer #B606-0053, about $85... correct?

Not directly related, but if you are doing the fuel lines and/or the viton O-rings. Might be just as good a time to do the fuel filter and pre-filters. But with your WVO conversion you may already have other plans.

Yes but gun bore brushes are under $3 at Wal*Mart

I mis-spoke in a previous post concerning the torque failure point of the 606 GP's.

Post 17 in this thread claims failure occurs between GP body and head at 85-90nm. IIRC, Beru stated failure occurs at 45nm. OM606 Glow Plug Replacement: Pray for me please

A couple of you have mentioned "clips" for the fuel lines. Which ones are they, how many should I buy?

Is it this guy?
D1005-115562 Fuel Line Bracket

I'd rather buy more than I need and have some extras, than have the car sitting while I wait for bits.

And about the glow plugs, I see that Phil carries Bosch, but most here prefer the Beru. Is there a good online source for them?

There are 5 of those clips and then 3 other clips that "zip tie" the lines together closer to the DV's.

Phil has Beru plugs too. They are the more expensive ones IIRC.

Are you doing the DV's too?

Thanks, I'll have to try to find those "zip tie" clips. Didn't see them.

I'll have to call then, they aren't listed in the online catalog, just Bosch and Bosch Duratherm

Well the fryerpower viton kit comes with 6 DV o-rings, so I might as well. I'll do a search to see what it involves. Are they prone to leaking?

I'm also tempted by some of the EGR delete ideas, but I figure I'm better off attacking one thing at a time.

Phil has Beru's online. Look again. Bosch is $25 and Berus are $35.

DV's have orings and as such can leak. Job is a little technical. Be sure to read up on it. You need a special splined socket to get the DV holder off. Phil has it under special tools.

The clips on the head are the weak ones - they will need replacing

The white clips where the lines meet out of the pump - they're the one's Terry means.

Coincidentally if the weather is ok tomorrow I'll be doing the DV job. I'll take loads of pics, intake manifold off and everything.

Thanks a ton, this thread has been very helpful. I'll update my "shopping list".

I'll be interested to see your pics and write-up!
