'91 MB 2.5L Question

Is this engine a IDI with prechamber's or is it a direct injection engine????

It is an IDI engine with pre-chambers. (OM602 I believe) Similar in design to the OM603....just a smaller cousin.

All MB's passenger car diesels in the USA were IDI until the 2005 E320 CDI.

MB didn't make their first DI passenger car engine until the 1995 E290, it was only sold in Europe.

The reason I ask is I just don't remember seeing the spanner slots at the injector sight like on my 240 is why I ask.
