Brake pedal effort question
I notice a difference in the brake pedal effort between my 2 123's and my 116. The 123's are the same and respond in a linear fashion to foot pressure on the pedal. The 79Sd does not seem to respond in a linear fashion. Initial pedal effort seems similar to the 123's but near the bottom, pedal response seems to increase dramatically with the same effort. In other words, it's much easier to lock up the brakes with the same effort on the 116 than it is on the 123's. The vacuum booster canister seems much larger on the 116.
Does anyone else experience the same thing? Is the vacuum assist engineered differently in these cars to produce these differences? I've been switching back and forth between the two models recently and realized that the differences mean it is easier to inadvertently lock up the wheels on ice in the 116 if I brake as if I'm driving a 123.
