More and more political crap like this diesel proposal was passed "to keep us all safe". (Anyone remember the San Francisco plastic bag tax?) In addition, with the huge influx of non-taxpayers flooding the state, I realized that I, a hard working middle-class taxpayer, would be the one footing the bill. While I was active and dutifully voted, I realized that I was responsible for myself (and my family) and could not stem the flow away from values I believed in - hard work, self sufficiency, choices, and personal freedoms. That led to a very personal decision to move to another state. As a previous poster stated, it isn't heaven and it has it's own set of issues. However, it is more in line with what I hold dear. It doesn't make me right and it doesn't make those who stayed in CA wrong.

I do find all the different viewpoints interesting. And I do believe the politicians in CA are selfishly doing the citizens of CA a disservice. That is a general statement that can be universally applied, but more so in CA.

Well said, I'm right behind ya, only I just can't afford to move, lol.

Makes a good argument for taking away your right to self govern.
They also use a chemical tracer in addition to the dye. While the color is a visible indicator, the authorities test the diesel for the presence of the chemical. The chemical gets past all of the expected excuses for the wrong color fuel in the tank. I found out about it because a relatively local landscape contractor got pinched recently for dipping into his offroad diesel for his trucks over the winter and tried to convince the inspector that someone had mistakenly dumped waste transmission fluid into the jerry cans he had his road fuel in.

Don't care to live there. Too many queers and liberals. Almost impossible to tell the difference.

I agree 100%

I went and saw my good friend who is serving in Iraq, hes back on 3 weeks leave then going back.

we were talking about the differences of being in a war zone and being home. and he told me the real trip was when you get back to the states and you are faced with dealing with all the laws that keep you safe. people telling you what to do. In Iraq its a matter of survival. over here people are forcing these laws down our throats and they don't know anythign about being "un-safe". It was a real eye opener to me to see all his pictures from Iraq and hear his stories, and then think of all the laws and rules and everything that is set up here.

I honestly don't think half of our population would survive if those laws were taken away... that is what makes it all so shocking... how dependent people are on the government.

this diesel law is just another law to keep people "safe" from dieing cancer... meanwhile my friend is worried about being safe from IEDs and insurgents trying to Kill him... and loving the smell of the diesel exhaust from his Humvee. very interesting world we live in.

The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia is a cool place, but I wouldn't live their.

The environmental guys are nut jobs, we couldn't even winterize a boat in the water because god forbid a little non toxic antifreeze gets in the water.

I used to know an old salt who spent a lot of time sailing up and down the west coast. He used to haul his boat at the first marina south of the boarder in Mexico. In CA if you accidently pump a little antifreeze over the side you are shot, the Gestapo(oh I mean DEP) will drag you off and liquidate you. In Mexico they needed to get rid of three 55 gallon drums of used oil, the owner of the marina was like just dump it over their, but not all at once give it some time to soak into the ground.

Its a hippie state, fun to visit smell the pot smoke, look at all the cars with big wheels, then fly home. They want you to sell the old cars for proper CA cars, H2's with 25in wheels.

I honestly worry about getting fined for parking my car on the street because of the oil spots that are left... Hatterasguy is correct. there is a Gestapo when it comes to the environment.

the funny thing is I've been riding with several friends parents who were talking to me about politics and why i am the way i am politically... they are the tree hugging type who are always getting on me about my car leaking oil... and on more then a few occasion they have told me to throw my used styrofoam coffee cups out the window of the car into the woods, rather then get a little coffee on there interior of their cars.

that is the mentality of this state... don't pollute in my backyard... but none of them really care about anything. in my opinion wouldn't it be better to litter in the city where there are people to clean it up then in the woods. whats the logic in that.

After living in a few other states I can say it's not any better any where else but just different. Try living and working in Florida, a lot of people I met there were good upstanding church goers on sunday and then were good upstanding klan members on monday.
