Rebuilt 4-speed tranny on eBay

Not mine, just passing along a good deal.

I pulled it out after only a few months to swap in an automatic trans. This is a direct fit for 1980 and prior 240D or 1971 and earlier 220 cars. It will fit a 1981-1983 240D with minor modifications to the shifter rods. I had this in a 1982 300D turbo using the stock 240D flywheel and clutch. Man, was that fun to drive!
Sounds fishy...who would swap back to an auto box?

Someone who drives mostly in city traffic or in a place with a lot of hills and doesn't want to be shifting constantly?

My girlfriend's current situation, in a nutshell. She doesn't mind stick except for the above issues. (Which I would also get annoyed by) I'd have to shift 50 times just to travel 5 miles to school every day. No thanks.

Seller said the engine blew, he left the auto on the replacment engine and later found a 5-speed to use instead of this 4.

Nothing in the receipt suggests the tranny was rebuilt. Release bearing and slave technically aren't in the tranny. Basically it was resealed unless he has more receipts.

So if I replace an unspecific seal, a throw out bearing and a slave clylinder I have rebuilt a manual transmission. Brilliant

Guys if anyone wants the 4 speed setup I have 400.00 takes it all. It came out of another members 240 that threw a rod. I was told it drove well and have no reason to doubt Ken's word. If shippping is a problem I will be driving from NJ to Houston in a few weeks, I could drop it off if you're not to far out of the way.
