Gonna Miss my 240D

Hey Guys,
Its been for sale for more than a few weeks now, and someone is coming up from TN tomorrow to buy it (I hope).

It is a 1982 240D, stick, manual everything incl sunroof. I bought it 3 yrs ago when I needed something easy to fix and reliable. it has been all those things.
Increased highway travel of late has me in a '97 Jetta (2.0 gas motor), which is nicer in many ways (better MPG, less noise, smaller car) but the more I drive to Jetta, the more I realize that the Benz is a more quality built car. I don't want to go back to a 240D (screaming down the highway, consuming more fuel...) but I'll be back in an MBZ someday.

I just had to tell someone. I'm sure there are people here than can relate.

-John

You'll be back. You need to get a 300D or a slightly later car like a 1987 300D or something....quieter on the freeway and less fuel consumption.

Yes, I will be back.

The guys drive it away this evening - It was a 1982, with an exhaust leak, 313k on the clock and some rust here and there. Came with some new parts, some old parts, a full set of steel wheels w/ hubcaps (rode on bundts). Engine started just fine in todays 30* weather. $700 for the lot - I am satisfied. They were happy to get a car with so many extra parts.

I'll be back in an old Benz someday - My MK3 Jetta isnt bad, but you can tell the Engineering just isnt there, I miss the W123 already (I don't miss the higway racket though)
