Hilarious... the news reporter scribbled down 240D and it got interpreted as a "Mercedes 2400 Diesel" - by Merc standards, that's a 24 liter diesel... you could hook a tow strap to the Earth and pull it with that.

Oh, the caption: "The only weak link in the venerable Mercedes Diesel of the Eighties - the hood ornament."

So far I'm voting for "Believe it or not"

And is there a star on that hood that I can't see, or did they really not put one on it / it got broken off? Because... that's just... a Merc without its star (that's standing perfectly straight) is like a dog with no tail. Just doesn't look right.

Thanks! Now if my 300td would only vote for itself not to leak!

I'm no sculptor, but I doubt a true-scale freestanding emblem like a hood star could be carved out of stone and have it last very long. They were pragmatic in not putting one on.

For Sale

For Sale

classic Mercedes 123 limo. Rock solid suspension, transmission, mounts, heck everything is rock solid on this car.

Pros - You will win in any wreck. Does not burn oil, or leak. bullet proof.
Cons - Windows won't go down. Doors, hood, trunk won't open. Can't get it up on a lift. Air blows cold when cold and windy outside, but blows hot when hot and windy outside

You will have to pick up and tow. Location = Graveyard parked

Mercedes engineer convicted of trying to pirate the Chevy motto "Like a Rock"

No one ever knew where that Chevy salesman came up with "Like a Rock" Until now.

John's Diesel was still running strong after 1,000,000 miles, until he left it out of the garage for a little too long and it got petrified.

Medusa knew that her life wouldn't be complete until she added this Limo to her collection.. Unfortunately it was mirror tinted.

You see? I told you they lost their immortality when you broke off their hood star!
