MB Rat Rod why do they do this?

With that being said, at least they didn't put an El Camino body on it

Yeah, It would have been a great thing to see at a Studebaker-Packard MB dealer in the early sixties.

Actually I really like it. He took something that would have ended up as a parts car or worse and made a pretty cool truck out of it. I like the fact that he stuffed a MB V8 in there and not a SBC.

If I had the time and needed a truck that would be a cool thing to have. Imagine hitting the Tractor Supply in that

NOT a diesel.....SHUCKS!!!

IF it were closer and IF it had a diesel engine in it.....I'd buy it IF I could get insurance on it. I'm guessing there's got to be someone that will insure these things, right?

If only it were a diesel, I would be tempted.....a small Mercedes diesel truck! It would be perfect for us small homebrewing biodieselers.

And what about the rear window? It looks like it might be set up for a Pella!

I am always sympathetic to these benz truck projects. I might actually buy one some day. It is a lot of work for sure ....you would need to be prepared to spend some money doing it to get it finished correctly and the bugs worked out.

This one looks like it might have structural issues. Although I like the simple straightforward look of this one, the el camino look probably has more of the necessary bracing to alleviate the loss of structure the rear of the passenger compartment gives.

hmmm 600.00 for that shiny Steering wheel...

seriously, I like the look. not a bad job on the bed... so far. too bad he stopped. I would think putting in the rear window from a small pickup would be better than that strange cobbing that was done, I can see it in my yard.

I like the Idea of the project. the thing would have to be totaly gone
through to undo anything micky moused together. there are the safety
issues to deal with, the structural integrity of the body.

The back window has to go and the corners need to be rounded off to
flow with the body lines some.

A Diesel for sure would need to be installed.

There was one running around here in Santa Cruz a few years back in
red. who ever did that one really did a nice job. haven`t seen it is a
few years.
also use to be a Volvo made into a PU. don`t know the years of Volvo,
but the model that the front looked like a 40 Ford. that one was done
really nice.

with enough money anything can be accomplished.

these type of things are dangerous for other reasons. I had a guy in my mustang club who welded the back of a pinto wagon on a 66 mustang making a mustang station wagon. He used to get run off the road a lot by people staring trying to figure out what it was when they would drift into his lane.....
