Welcome from Spain... welcome to our FORUM... BUT !
Quote:
Since your Mercedes was most likely delivered in Spain/Europe without air conditioning, I doubt that many people here in the U.S. will be able to help you with your alternator and tensioner pulley problem for our U.S. Mercedes cars most likely had a different configuration due to ours usually come equipped with air conditioning. Take a look at: http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1 and see IF you can find your car... and IF you do, you will find a wealth of information there in the form of parts "blow-up" diagrams or sketches as well as corresponding Mercedes part numbers! ALSO you should learn about how FORUMs have THREADs and POSTs for your POST should have been on a different THREAD more appropriate for your question and/or area of needed assistance. IF you need further assistance click on my name above [Samuel M. Ross] and select "Send Email to Samuel M. Ross" and NOT use this THREAD for your question... start a new THREAD in the "Diesel Discussion" FORUM. I suggest you title your THREAD something like " Alternator tensioner problem on european Model###D, Chassis####, Engine ### " Regards, Last edited by Samuel M. Ross; 01-26-2008 at 05:26 PM. Reason: major revision!.......... |

Samuel, thanks for your advice. i grant you the 916 model is an obscure one, a google search returns little. i think this engine was on a unimog u52/421...couple of examples of parts, to confirm its existence. i´m reasonably certain of the designation, as this is off the engine block, the last 6 is pretty worn but i think it´s a 6!
anyway, that was still off topic for the thread. i would still appreciate suggestions for alternatives to the EPC linked, as i can´t access it from europe (requires a US credit card). |

that was an exciting few minutes trying to discover what had happened to this thread
thanks to messrs. hunter and ross for the help. i have found a copy of the EPC on bittorrent, big file so downloading now. i´d prefer to pay for the service, but given that i´m far too unamerican, i´ll do what i have to do. i need to have the van fixed in a month, so i´m in a hurry, as i imagine it´ll take a week or 2 to actually order parts for a 30 or 40 year old very obscure (apparently!) engine. if anyone has suggestions for a european online access to the EPC, welcomed. really i just want to know the part numbers for the stuff i need to order, which is why i´m after the EPC. |

The stolen EPC is North America only, and has no data on the engine you need parts for. Have you tried the Russian Mercedes car club website? http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb.asp |

I owned a 616 in a 307d van in Europe, no AC. I'm virtually certain that the alternator mounting bracket was the same as the 616 in the 240d. It wouldn't surprise me if you discover the same thing with the 615. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if the 615 and 616 mounting brackets are the same.
Perhaps someone here with knowledge of the 615 in a 220d could comment on this if they are also familiar with the 616. Someone just posted a thread about glow plugs in a 220d.

I did manage to find a European EPC, which was slightly virus infected, but being reasonably techie, i sorted that out and now it works fine. covers european and japanese models, and is exactly what i was after. turns out that the parts i need are the same on an OM615.910 and 615.916, so that makes life easy for me - the stamp on the engine is so worn that i really am unsure what the last figure is. so now off to find suppliers of obscure bushings to spain
