Sprinter: To buy or not to buy?

Hi All:

Well, I've been spending far too much time looking at importing a Eurovan/Transporter or buying a domestic Sprinter. All I can think about now is a Sprinter...

My thought is that a 2005/2006 with the 2.7 is the way to go. I've read mixed reviews (rants?) about what people don't like on these vehicles; everything from bad EGR systems to constant alignment problems to rust issues. I'm looking at another used one Monday so are there any problems in particular to look for?

Are there folks here who've had good or bad experiences with these? Also, is there a compelling reason to go for a 2007 with the 3.0 aside from the bigger engine and the better emissions? I'd like to avoid selling a kidney to buy one new at the dealer, but the first born isn't out of the question if there's a good reason to do so

Many thanks!

UPS bought Sprinters for the extended, high mileage routes at my depot. They ran good. Nice engine and trans. The bodies were rather "tinny" in my opinion. Now you can understand the demands and TORTURE a UPS vehicle gets. They got some stress cracks in the body. But then again, UPS useage on horrable roads at high speeds...... I don't know about the new V6. If it is all aluminum, I would rather the 2.7.
