Help w/ top of belt tensioner shock
The belt tensioner spring on my 90 350sdl broke.
The bottom attachments are logical but I have doubts of the top portion. Does the top of the shock just bolt into the head or to the black triangular plastic piece that the spring hooks to? I see a threaded hole in the head but it feels like it should attach to the plastic piece the spring attaches to. Don

My memory is a little foggy, but if you look at the black plastic piece you will see a hole perpendicular to the bolt. You hook the spring in and then put a small rod in the hole to pry the spring up so you can insert the bolt into the head. Your lug wrench can be used for the rod. Hope that helps

The shock bolts directly to the head. The plastic piece slips over the top of a pin that extends into the head. The spring hooks the plastic piece.

Thanks!
It seems there are 2 types of mounts for the 603. I KNOW now that on a 3.5 motor the shock and the plastic piece that holds the spring do not touch. The plastic piece doesn't move at all. All the movement occurs at the bottom metal piece that both the shock and spring attach to. Don
