Palangi,

NO S**T, Heco in Mexico? And AZ raised the price about $25 also. That takes a lotta attaboys away from AZ.

Are U sure Pep Boys (PB) uses Johnson Controlls (JC) Batteries. Last time I looked PB used Excide. I was in an Excide distribution warehouse and they were sticking labels on Excide made batteries for many different sellers including PB and Firestone.

If U get a PB battery, keep the warranty papers. I lost the warranty papers and PB would not make good on a bad battery. With AZ, all U need is your phone number.

If AZ gives me the same 8 year nationwide warranty on the Mexican battery, I still may buy a battery from them. If it fails, they will give me another battery and prorate it or free if it fails in the 2 or 3 year guarentee period. If AZ has to replace too many Mexican batteries, maybe they will go back to JC.

Next time I'm in a AZ store, I will check out the batteries. If there is a JC Group 49battery there, I just might buy it, before they are gone.

Easy battery corrosion cleanup is to just take a Pyrex measuring cup or something (styrofoam is fine too) and mix baking soda and water. Apply with a paintbrush and let it fizz.

I bought an Autozone battery for the wagon this summer. Guess I need to go out and see who it's made by.
Battery went dead a few weeks ago trying to crank when temp in the 20's. Seemed a little too quick to die.....

If you ever have corrision on your battery terminals, pour a little Coke or Dr Pepper on them - it will fizz and bubble and clean them up nicely - then think about that the next time you drink a Coke or Dr Pepper.
123Guy,

Who sells the Interstate Megatron and how much? I hope somewhere other than Costco, as they don't have any locations in my area. I poured some ginger ale on my posts today, ate that **** up lickety split.

I checked an Interstate Battery store today. No group 49's, but they had a group 93 w/850 cca that looked to be about the same physical size as a 49. Only problem is, they wanted $147 for it.

Jimmy, if it has the terminals in a recessed area of about 2 1/2 inches square, and has an orange plastic flap over the positive terminal, that is probably the Johnson Controls battery.

I guess a group 49 would be the legendary "Big Johnson".

Search online for Interstate batteries and find a place near you - the group 93 megatron with an 85 month warranty, 1000 cranking amps an d 850CCA runs around $120.

I bought the AutoZone battery about 3 months ago,and it looked exactly like the old Interstate it was replacing except for the color of the plastic case.Cant say that it was made by Interstate but it sure looks the same and actually has removable covers so you can add distilled water when its needed.I didnt look close enough to see where it was made, but Mexico would not surprise me,alot of electrical stuff is made there. Cant say much for its cold weather starting as we dont allow cold weather in this part of Florida.
