Holy Sh!t, went for $6,106
This car just sold at a Canadian government auction for $6106 Canadian. I watch these auctions and the few times I bid I never got lucky. I guess this guy did.

I could drive that to work. Well, if they would bring it south.

Government, fleet and lease vehicles are some of the worst abused cars you can possibly buy.

Government is hit and miss: depends on the government. Lease is definitely an "avoid." |
Oh, we mustn't forget demo vehicles as well.

That's a strange lookinh vehicle. Way to ugly for me.

clown car...give me the real thing...wide,,long,,low,,and heavy

Is that the MB A Class???
|
No, it is based on it.
|
Sort of a " A" Class. Vaneo, odd name but interesting vehicle. There is a bunch of them over in Vance, AL (imagine that) in the DPS for the city. There are claims the 1.7 ltr with a standard will run 110 mph and knock close to 50mpg all day.
|
These Vaneo are prevalent in Spain, Portugal and Italy...I think they are a different model platform than the Vito.
Yes, diesel. I have been in both vehicles and each of them had a diesel and a six-speed manual although the one in the picture looks to be an automatic. |
This is a European vehicle. If you bring a car into Canada that is non-conforming to safety and emissions standards, you have to convince the customs guys that you know how to convert it - and have the money to do so - or you risk having the car impounded until you come up with a decent plan of attack.
My guess is that this car was impounded when the owner realized that they would have to do things like custom fabricate bumpers, install daytime running lights, side marker lights etc etc. Thankfully older cars are exempt and most US cars meet the regs with no or minor mods. |
I watch those crown asset auctions too.
As a condition of sale, many of those "test" vehicles HAVE TO be shipped back to Europe. They will only deliver it to a sealed shipping container destined for Europe. That means you can't even buy it to part out, etc. The crown assets auctions are cool though, I've gone to the auctions in Montreal. My father once bid on a lot of 6 4x4 crates of military surplus, just for kicks. He won, and had to pay to get all of it trucked home... what a crazy pile of stuff. 1 cyl diesel generators, aircraft "boosting" station control panels, boxes of gauges. This is what I got out of the pile: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1187839335.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1187839323.jpg |
Why get something at a good price that is that ugly. That thing is awful...:thumbsdow
|
That piece of grunt is really ugly
I'm rally surprised that Benz and co. didn't put the "Star" upside down on that one!
