Yo I can't close my door man!!!

I've got another thread running about the same problem I posted earlier. But I 've got this lovely 1980 4spd 240D that I just invested handsomely for in door seals. I proceeded to happily replace said door rubber and soon found myself unable to close the door. the part was purchased from ******** Arizona and closely resembles the same seals sold on this site(Manufactured by Meyle) and appear to be of good quality. The last six of the chassis number is 649684 so the rubber should fit. But I can't close the fu#*in door(Well I can but it must be slammed with conviction). So is the part wrong or did I miss the secret handshake?

Didn't you already ask this question this morning? They gave you a few responses.

it is a common newbie thing... you'll start to notice the replies of "bump" to keep the thread on the first page:D

Yeah but what about my door problem?

I think that link has gone away. Anyway not all seal material is created equal. While the cross sections may look the same the material isn't. Some aftermarket material is denser and will not compress as well creating problems when closing a door. This may be your case.

You may have to move the latch on the post out a bit to get it to close with the new seals. The little allens are a b!tch to get out. An allen socket with a hand held impact will do it nicely. about anything else is about certain to strip the allen out.

Good luck
