$$ Engine Shock Mount $$

I have searched the archives far and low and I cannot find any info that applies to my situation.

My engine shock mount has totally worn off of the rubber pieces that it fits into. Were these pieces supposed to attach to the metal mount or not?? I already am in for a lot of $$ and I do not want to spend any unesary money. The mount seems to be quite tight even though it can slide in and out of the rubber fitting. Will this actually matter b/c of the fact that the mount is going to be bolted in and the shocl will be tight on the bottom and the top??

As long as you don't mind the extra shaking and it is not causing any damage to the mounting brackets, I say leave it till you feel like swapping out. However they are not expensive and are easy to change.

I will continue to look around for one. Mercedesshop sell them for about as cheap as I have seen, $50. I suppose you are right. It won't be to hard to change later on if I need too

My 300D is without any engine shocks and it doesn't seem to feel any rougher without them. I even have a video of the engine running by itself just sitting on a tire and a pallet.
running engine
Seemed smooth enough just like that.

Well, the situation is this. I am ready to get my baby back on the road and I am leaning towards putting the mount w/ the stripped rubber section back onto the car and wait until I can scavenge one locally. I hope this will work.

you might want to remove and inspect the rack dampner pin.. if its not gold it needs to be replaced with the updated gold coloured version that has a stronger spring in it.

I drove my car for two weeks without the engine shocks or shock mounts... New engine mounts though, so it didn't really shake as bad as it did before. I need a new RDP.

the old shocks were so bad.. I turned one upside down and the shaft fell into the cylinder!

Ouch! Those rack dampener pins are now $100. I remember when they were about $30.
