Two years sitting and no tranny operation

I recently purchased a 77 300D that had been parked for several years. The tranny fluid seems to be at the correct level but I can not get any movement out of the car. It doesn't even "jump" when switching between gears. No movement with a bit if a rev either. Unfortunately, the alternator belt is not the right size so the water pump isn't turning so I can't run it for long. Going to get to fixing up the little problems soon but I don't want to waste my time if I have a big tranny fix to do. Any suggestions to fix/diagnose the problem?

A long-shot.

You could try pushing/pulling the car with the engine idling in drive, see if the rear pump will generate enough fluid flow to break the piston free.

Also, if it's cold, warming it up might be all that is necessary. This might be due to shrunken seals allowing the fluid pressure to bypass seals and not operate the transmission.

Either way, start with the water pump and then warm up the engine. Wouldn't hurt to buy a magnetic oil-pan heater to warm the transmission fluid first if it's outside in the Ontario winter.

Suspect bad front pump/bad TC. A number of the 722.1xx have this issue. I suggest removing one of the transmission lines to the radiator . If you make a mess, that would rule out that problem. You should get pressure here in less than 15 or 20 seconds here, so this wouldn't be an issue with lack of engine cooling.
