96 w210

I have been living with a 2 to 3 trans. flaring problem for about 15000 miles since I purchased the car hoping it would go away but has not . I changed oil and filter after I purchased it at 54,000 . It seems to not have the problem when you first start driving and gets worse as oil heats up. Does anybody have any cheap ideas?

Yes, get the gearbox dipped - could be low on fluid.

Its about the right time to change the fluid and filter too.

You're dipping it using the tube at the back of the engine bay, not the front - right?

Sorry if that sounds insulting.

K1 spring maybe? They're really cheap and relatively easy to do if you're in there for a fluid/filter change already. My car has a very occasional 2-3 flare and the fluid level and vacuum adjustments are fine. I'm going to do the K1 kit this summer when I start driving it again and do the fluid and filter. 96 was the last year of the hydraulic trans...I believe it's a 722.4 or .5.

I have heard about the k1 kit about 12 dollars at the dealer but I did not no if it would work on my transmission. If anybody is sure if the k1 kit will work on the 96 e300d let me no. Thanks

722.3 or .4. 722.5 is the early 5-speed behind the M104 in the W140 and R129.

Will the k1 kit work on a 722.438 transmission?
