Leak in the trunk 83 300sd

When I got the car it had water in the wells in the trunk. I cleaned the drains and removed the carpet and saw no rust. The car is under cover, but not enclosed.
Today there is a wet spot in the trunk, about where the drivers rear window is.
Also the black trim under the chrome trim is cracked.
The rear carpet in the back window is also damp.
I am thinking that the window is leaking?
Is pulling the window something I can do or best left to the pros.

I have found no rust on the car, so maybe just a seal?

Also of note, Found that this car has the original 1st aid kit and manuals in it.

thanks
Doug

Mine has developed a window leak also. My rubber is cracked, also. Im too poor to afford to have the window resealed (although i may do it myself) so I bought some clear window sealant at the auto parts store and Ill see how that works, If it works ill be sure to report back

If you have a leak in the trunk, and it filled the wells. This thing probably has been leaking for a long time. It probably has been wet under the gasket area for a long time also.
If it was me, I would pull out the window and check real good for any rust. If you take it to a glass shop, they will just R&R.

Another issue the 126 has is the rear window getting milky in the corners. the window is laminated, with the defroster wires in between the glass layers. water will wick up between the layers causing the problem. this will also cause problems with the defroster to not work, or part of it nonop.

I have had water issues with my 123, usually the inside will get damp in the corners before I notice water in the trunk. I use a razor blade knife and cut the rubber and push out the window. if the gasket has been in there for a few years, I just replace it.

Water leaking at the rear window corners for sure.

My window were just a touch milky when I discovered my leak. It was enought that the carpets were getting wet but I had no puddles.

I found myself some sealant in a tube that is used for windows. DON'T get the silicone sealant. Get a sealant that is acrylic. Gently push a flat screwdriver or maybe a toungue depressor under the black rubber seal on the outside of the window. Move along as you squirt a healthy amount of the sealant under this rubber seal. When it dries, cut off the excess with a knife.

Worked for me!

Oh yeah, don't forget to buy the clear stuff.

Ok,
How do I pull the window? As much as it rains up here I should at least check for rusting issues.
The rear window in the 85 has the white in the corners. Does that mean it is also leaking? and needs re-sealed?

What is the white? Is that delamination? I've seen that before in other cars, but I don't remember it being white.

Yes the delamination is white or milky. If the window is like that in the corners you have issues. It may not be leaking into the car but water is getting between the layers of glass.

If you have never pulled a window before or if you have never seen it done, DON'T do it yourself.

Check your sunroof drains.
