Mono valve replacement question...
Hey folks.
Simple question.. Should I drain the radiator before replacing the mono valve? At this time the engine is cold. Thank you

Also, are you replacing the entire valve assembly? Generally all you need is a new internal piece that has the rubber diaphragm on it....the part all the hoses connect to doesn't usually need replacement. You likely just need the "monovalve repair kit"....here's a pic:

Then all you need to do is remove the 4 screw on the top of the valve and drop in the new parts (remember to remove the old ones first )

It's a very quick and easy fix- no need to drain the radiator.

Agreed, no draining necessary, have done it, very high in the system, yet some fluid may come out.

Keep an eye on the washers
Just did mine this afternoon. Heat is nice. Make sure to put the flat washers back in the same place on the new one as they were on the old. I think I got a couple of tablespoons of coolant out.

As you can see its probably the most common failure of Mono Valves. As seen on the picture the lower seal is torn.
Not to bad for a item bought on flee bay! Thanks again
