The problem with continued cranking with 'no start" is the cylinder walls get washed down with fuel which decreases compression further decreasing your chances of it lighting off.
A couple squirts of "half lub oil and half ATF" into each GP hole will often temporarily increase compression enough to get her fired up. Not more than a couple squirts tho

If it keeps sucking air at the primer pump, you'll have to do the same routine to get it started each time. The new style pump is less than $10 on line.
