upgraded injectors for 617 engines?

does bosio or any company make aftermarket injectors for the 617 turbo engines or know company that does?

The injectors are not a restriction on these engines, the injection pump is.

You can upgrade from the stock 241 nozzle to the 265 nozzle to achieve better atomization and more complete combustion. You can also increase the pop-pressure. These would both be an upgrade of sorts, but you won't realize very drastic results unless maybe you are running alternative fuels... I wouldn't bother unless you currently have injector problems.

well

i figured in 25 years they had some better technology to come along i know on the tdi vw's i put a set of bosio's in and they have completely different pattern and hole config than stock and runs like 10% better. The 265 injectors u speak of where do i get a set? mine i think are off figure 220K or close to it probaly need a new set i put glowplugs figured one was weak wants to miss and stutter for couple minutes when it's mildly cold out ~40 or so. compressions good so figuring weak or leaky injector?

I really don't think that changing from the 241 injectors to the 265 would have any positive effect. The shop manual seems to imply that other nozzle types were tried and that the 241 nozzles provide a pilot injection.

it's probably a glowplug issue causing a the cold miss.

if you are getting smooth idle, no smoke, and truly 26mpg - your injectors are probably in good shape.

thats what I get with my brand new Bosch pro rebuilt ones...

I would agree. From experience. The 240/ nozzle was a state of the art design, utilizing a pre-ignition hole and cross-hole to feed it in the tip of the pintle. The 265 does not utilize this and is a noisier nozzle when used in the 617 motor. The flow might be higher in the 265 (according to Bosch charts) but negligibly so, once the pre-ignition spray is factored into the full-fuel equation of the 240/ nozzle.

If a person wanted more power, they should look elsewhere (though I too look for the easiest changes to effect that.)

I would stick with (good - German) 240/ nozzles and do so in my own 617 engined vehicles (even switched the VW to these as they are quieter and give a longer felt power spread - though it is marginally overfueled with these and following drivers would agree....)

The 256 nozzles are working great so far, although I do use two-stage injectors.

Only down side is reduced torque available at idle.
