Longtime SVOer with Simple Question
So, I have been running SVO for about 6 years now almost exclusively in 300D Turbos (with the exception of my Diesel Scout and several generators).
I picked up a beautiful 79 300D Non-Turbo last year and it has never started on SVO the way the Turbo 617's did. The engine runs great and has no fuel flow issues. I replaced the loop style glow-plugs with pencil tips. It does need a valve adjustment and I am sure that will help but I recently read that the injectors on the non-turbo pop at a much lower pressure than the turbo....my question: 1- Can I put in different injectors (ie. those from a turbo or otherwise)? 2- Would I then need to advance/adjust the timing? Any other thoughts?

Set your injectors at 135bar, advance the timing 2* and install a two-tank conversion.
