Walker Engineering Airsep

Saw this the other day, but I haven't found any information on it's practicality for use on the 616.912.

The Walker Airsep seems to be marketed towards large industrial and marine applications, but I'm curious about it. I checked the forums here, but nobody seems to have brought it up yet. Is this at all practical for the 616.912?

Looks interesting, I have the same engine, and there is some blow-by...

Does the 616 not have an oil sep like the 617? Why not just use one from a 617?

The nonturbo models have the CCV going straight into the intake. Only the late 81-83 240D got a separator.

I apply the same deal to that site as I do in any store. No price, no buy. If they do not list a price, I do not consider buying one.

Well I don't know anything about an oil sep on my engine. if there's a way to install one from another engine line, I'd definitely like to hear more about which models/years to get one off of and what's involved in the installation.

well strike that, then.

A decent oil separator is pretty easy to make, just need a pipe with a vertical baffle in it; wet vapor goes in the top on one side of the baffle, oil drains out the bottom, dry vapor comes back out the top on the other side of the baffle.. Thats basically what mine is and it works pretty well. However, without the correct fitting on your oil pan to collect the oil drips, you will have to make some sort of collection tank... which doesn't really solve any problems because you still have to top up your crankcase oil on the same interval.. or you could install a fitting which would probably involve pulling the engine... Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.

Try doing a search on Mann Provent if you want an aftermarket CCV separator/filter unit. Early 617 turbos had NO oil separator at all. Zip, zilch, nada. RT
