Motorcycle - Diesel, US MADE!

From my home town of Milwaukee, home of Harley come this: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=716897

Raw video of bike in action: http://video.ap.org/v/Default.aspx?g=a720a5b2-4d73-443c-bc3b-a7034c75398b&mk=en-ap&f=wimil

This is how Buell started. Eric Buell (himself a past Harley designer) created a bike in a beat up old garage in Mukwonago, WI then got bought out by Harley (I used to go and visit them to see how the Buells were hand built). I bet it wont be long for these guys to get the attention of Harley. Physically these guys are just miles away from the Harley Main offices (I used to ride cycles for Harley).

This has a TON of potential.

Sorry it is not a Benz Diesel story, but thought there might be interest.

That's an awesome bike! I wonder if the turbo whine and blow off would be annoying on longer drives ... you're right on top of it after all.

just nothing like sitting at a long light breathing Diesel fumes... Im guessing thats part of the reason you dont see a lot of Diesel convertables either.

I never thought about this before. I think I remember reading about cars and motorcycles in Japan around the time of WWII that were somehow running on charcoal. Anybody else ever hear of that?

If they were able to bring this to market I'd be all over it. Right now the only choices seem to be to either build you own Frankenbeast, or go with an antiquated Russian model (Depnr or something?) HDT has been promising that Bulldog for years and still won't sell to the public..

I'm not a cruiser guy, but I'd ride that bike in a second!

I would have my bike painted Caterpillar yellow, with black and red accents, and complete with Cat decals. Yes, I'd also want a vertical exhaust and a rain cap on it just like Orange County Choppers' Caterpillar bike. (I actually put a rain cap on my old Rabbit's tailpipe for a while...but the annoying rattle overcame the comedic value.)

Thumbs up

Awesome baffle-jake-brake sound as he flies by with the clutch pulled in before shifting I used to ride Harleys in the AF but I could never get that sound out. Put one of those in a cafe-mod frame with Vincent 5" speedo, a 7" Miller lamp, low-low rise bars, a corbin cafe seat and chop the rear fender, hot-cha-cha...

I think they were actually running on smoke; primitive gasification setups. If charcoal wasn't available they would stop by the side of the road and fill the cooker with twigs.
