Hello again , car overheated yesturday to about 110c for about 1 mile may be two so 3 minutes max before i pulle dover and shut down , it was around 5 f at the time (might have frooze something) after letting car cool for about 10 miutes it started right up ran great and ran no hotter than normal(80c) car is a 96 e300d. did i ruin head?
no water in oil or in exhaust at this time. can these engines handle this abuse? thanks for help.

It's my understanding that damage can occur when you break 120 C. Pulling over at 110, you should be fine.

I agree you might have frozen part of your radiator, which then melted when you got it hot and stopped. You probably should check your antifreeze concentration.

Lets see, antifreeze about $15, new engine about $6000.00. As far as the abuse, it's like playing Russian roulette!!

For now, monitor the temp gauge a little closer and check the condition of the oil and the coolant every couple of days.

After a week or two of that with no changes, go on with life.
