W123 Under-dash check valves
I'm replacing the two - one is for the central locking system behind the cluster, and the other is for the center vent.
Does anyone have a picture as to which way they should go? Mine have been messed with before, giving them a 50% chance of being right :-) I understand what they do as a device, but I don't understand their placement in either system, could someone shed some light on it? (Especially in the ACC system) Thanks! dd

I have answered part #1 of my question - found pictures of the check valves in dmorrisons wiki article on Evaporator replacement.

He says "This is not a terribly difficult job . . " The step by step pictures were great, but I'd never try that. It looked like brain surgery to me.

going all the way down to the evaporator look more difficult, but just time consuming and not hard per se. dmorrisons instructions are spot on as always, and it makes the whole ordeal much easier.
