Light time. The relay keeps the glowplugs energized until the relay hits the time limit or the starter is used.

Do a search for violet wire. There is a good write up on it. That is what I followed. You want to use a relay if you do it to save your glow plugs. That is the low budget method. The more expensive method is to upgrade to true afterglow. GSXR has a good write up on that.

I did the factory Afterglow on my SDL, was pretty cheap if you know how to shop... I think sub $100.
