87 300D Cracked Engine mount or Post
I have a broken engine post, well i don't know what the part is called or the part number , where can I get this part that is cheaper than the dealer or how much am I looking to pay for this part from the dealer, what is the part number, it is on the driver side, and what causes this to happen.
thanks in Advance |

Should be a part number cast on the top side of the arm beside the Mercedes star. Poke your head down in there a bit with a light. Car-part.com too or dealer. Go ahead and replace the motor mounts while you have this out. Could have been bad casting? Something hit with great force? Overtorqued bolt?

A collision can do that too. The mount won't hold the engine if the car is hit a certain way at sufficient speed.
To me this is something you could find at a junkyard off a bad engine. You should also make sure the mount in the car's frame is not cracked - that's also a junkyard item. As long as you don't repeat the issue and get one from a collision car. Ken300D

now that you mentioned it, I was hit from the back a few months ago and the insurance company totalled my car. but the engine works great that i am still trying decide to keep or get rid of the car, this would explaine the direction of th cracked mount, I will check on the other mount to see if it needs to be replaced. luckily the engine didn't fall apart on me coz I drove it 120MPH even after the accident.
