'78 300 cd towing

What's my reccomended max for towing?

These cars do not tow well. Put it on a trailor or flatbed. You stand a good risk of tranny damage if it is towed.

I think he wants to tow something with it. I don't know what the reccomended max towed load is for that car. It should be in your owner's manual.

If I had to guess I'd say somewhere in the range of 2000 lbs for "reccomended", but it will probably pull a lot more as long as you stay out of the mountains. Just make sure your trailer brakes are up to snuff.

Also make sure you have no rust or rot on any structural parts of the chassis

Keep what ever your towing under a 1000 pounds to make sure you dont drag on the trannie. Its important to know also that the bumpers on 300 s are not bolted to the car like you would think .The bumper itself is only bonded to the arms that are then bolted to the frame ,meaning, anything you hook up to just the bumper will be leaving your car with bumper attached.Youll need to get a tow hitch that bolts right to the frame.
