I had a TD wagon once and while I enjoyed the 7 seat option (rear looking 3rd seat), I didn't enjoy the weird suspension in the rear. It's all fine while its working but a pain once it starts going.

I love my wagon. even the suspension. it is a fairly simple hydraulic system if you look at it that way. a pump a valve and 2 cylinders.

What could I expect to pay for this?
Rust free is getting hard to find.....
even down here. I'm gonna watch for a while
then maybe go over to see it if it doesn't go
crazy. I'm thinking 4-4.5k.

It doesn't look bad, it will probably bring a decent price.

Not a good idea to post an ad for a td you are considering buying especially an ebay purchase. Others may want to bid on it, too. :D

That being said, the aftermarket horn looks interesting. Dixie horn perhaps?:D It looks like it has a rust bubble under the trim on the drivers side fender.

Are you going test drive it?

Seems your price cap is reasonable. you never know. 5 days and few w123 wagons on ebay right now, we'll see.

If I get the chance and the price
doesn't get too high.

Well for starters at least the vendor has far better than average feedback. That has become so important that I would not consider getting involved in a deal reciently on a 1991 300d because of the few negative remarks posted on the vendor plus his private auction b.s.. I kind of thought the pre purchase inspection if allowed would kill the deal anyways. Just too slick as well.
I really believe people in general do not leave negative feedback unless really upset. I know there are exceptions but just generally speaking.
You know the vendor then is going to respond negatively almost always with no reason. You were the victim after all not him and he knew that.
This vendor seems to be pretty knowledgeable about his car perhaps a plus. There might be a member close by that could have a look for you.

The ones I've seen on ebay have been going for upwards of $5K.
Some even as high as $13K!!!!
Just don't bid until the last 15 minutes. Don't force it to go high too soon.
Snipe it in the last few minutes if you can!!

barry123400 02-25-2008 08:10 PM

Listed cars are sold off ebay all the time. Why not go look, decide the maximum you would pay and offer to do the deal with him then and there. Sure it may sell for less on ebay in your opinion but what are the chances of that? He might even have a price you would like for buy it now. What do you have to lose? If not possible to do a side deal you can still bid to your limit.

Yep, I sold my 84 that way:cool:.

the interior says a lot to me, this was pretty well kept. I bet it will go 5-6K. I used to be a fan of the TD's I even claimed my forum name thinking I would get a td, but I love my coupe, I wouldnt trade it for two TD's. Why dont you sell off all of your MB's and keep the coupe. it is very nice. with a 1-2K paint job it would be much nicer than this TD for the same 5K

The only time to bid on an e-bay item is in the last 15 seconds. If you can't do that.........don't even bother. This applies to everything on e-bay.........not just vehicles. Decide the maximum you will pay and put that bid in at T-15. Either you get.........or you don't..........but, you cannot get caught in a bidding war.

That's how I got my 300d. Bid at the last minute with a max of $2500. Got it for $2,000. It was a very happy day.
