All 300SD's from 78-84 used a 3.07 ratio. The speedometer MPH shows 85mph on some because stupid federal laws of the time limited what could be displayed in hopes of keeping people from driving fast. No matter if it has an 85 or 120mph speedo, it will do about 110mph.

Let me say that, after seeing the car Lisa bought, it ia NOT the car that was advertised. This vehicle, when it arrived, leaked oil at almost every seal, did not have working lights, A/C, heater, sunroof or windows, most of the gauges do not work, the alternator does not work, the park brake did not work, all the rubber is dried out, the seats are rotted and mildewed with all the padding rotted and the springs totally rusted, the interior had been ravaged by a team of rabid beavers and it DID NOT EVEN HAVE AN AIR FILTER (which John Harrison at Green Benz told me personally "was not needed & we take them off all our cars so they breath better". If you take the few minutes to compare the listing photos to the pictures of the actual vehicle shipped, anyone will quickly see that nothing matches - from the grain on the dash to the lettering on the various switches (eg: listing photo shows "compressor" on the A/C switch while the actual switch says "AIR COND"). Now while it is possible that he took the time to swap out all the interior parts, it is more reasonable to assume that he took pictures of a vehicle in good condition, put in the VIN number from this P.O.S. & then painted the "dog" to resemble the car from the photo.
Spread the word - THIS COMPANY/man is a CROOK & A FRAUD. EBAY is allowing this to continue by retracting the negative postings. All he had to do to get the posting retracted was to say "I will give you back your money" - he didn't actually have to refund a dime and had no intention of refunding anything!

I would love to meet this sack of turds (John Harrison) here in Texas, but I know that won't happen as any man that would do this to another human being is too low & too big a coward - but he would probably send his wife or kids to fight for him..........................

I'm curious to know how much GreenBenz is making off these scams. It seems that he is going to a fair amount of effort to continue doing it. He's got to do a lot of photoshopping, painting, hassling with Ebay, dealing with irrate customers and the authorities etc in order to pull this off. I can't imagine that he's making enough money off these scams to make it worthwhile. It seems that a similar amount of effort put into a legitimate business venture could easily produce similar returns. It makes me wonder what is motivating him. I can't imagine a scam like this arising from anything other than outright stupidity.

Okay, now I understand a little more about the situation. Has anyone thought to go to Greenbenz and check them out or view and drive the car they were going to buy? I know that's not always convienent being that people buy from all over. But as long as some people desire to make an easy buck, there will be people like that around. It's even easier these days because there is so much more information for enthusiasts about desired "niche" cars, so sellers can pick up on it and choose their target buyers. One last thing, if people want to go check them out I noticed on the GB website they are going to have a some sort of informative biodiesel seminar on March 15. I dunno if it's free, but if it is somebody should go check it out real stealth like.

To egebjerg007-

I have bad news. I bought this same car in June 07 from Green-benz. Its a convoluted story how he got my money through ebay, but this was not an ebay purchase. We had a written agreement for repairs to be made. John and Heidi Harrison lied to me for three months about the progress being made. If the receipts you have were actually done, they did not solve the problems. I had 2 shops inspect the vehicle. I just won a settlement this week in LA small claims court (he appealed the first decision). I had to return the car as a condition of the settlement and watched it being listed on ebay. I feel for you and wish I could have prevented him continuing his lies, but didn't go on forums until now because of the pending appeal. You have a private message from me and can contact me for more information. I lost 2 grand in the deal, even if I can collect the settlement. Its a shame; the car is solid, runs strong, and looks cool, but needs lots of repairs.

It seems his listing aren't getting much attention anymore, perhaps the word has spread enough.

If you buy a car from GreenBenz (maybe by accident?), please put an air filter in it ASAP.

You don't want the turbo ending up like this:

This seller is obviously a sleeze. Aside from all the formentioned problems, the wheel wells were not masked off when thew car was repainted - cheezy, and the driver's seat back is about to leap off the frame. These guys truly have no shame. One bit of truth in his ad is the last line where he says, "good luck."

No greenbenz listings for a long time. Perhaps he's finished?
