Angry Hit and Run; could have been worse.

In a college parking lot, its not a matter of if, but when you get hit. Today was the 300d's lucky day. There are way too many morons in college these days. I purposely park far away from campus to avoid traffic, many idiots in hacked up ricers cause fender benders, but I guess my spot is not immune to poor driving.

I'm pissed, but it could have been worse. Anyone have an extra one of these lying around?

I see what looks to be a tire well under it in the second pic, so I'm guessing its a rear one?
Shoot, if that's all they hit I wouldn't be pissed, I'd be happy, no metalworking, filler, or repainting. Drop and swap fix on a cheap easy to replace part.
Back in my college days, I was taking an autobody class so I took an array of vehicles to school. I had my old beat up 77 GMC pickup, someone felt the need to make a large key gouge across the rattlecanned primer patchwork hood (which remained there until the trucks dying day).
Another day I had my mother's GMC Sonoma, only a few years old and still low mileage, someone with a lifted 4wd hit the rear, never touched the bumper (how I knew what had hit it), shoved the tailgate 1' in at the center in a big "V", took me 2 hours and several pulls from various angles, combined with sledgehammer blows to get the gate back straight enough that it would release itself from the bed latches. Amazingly the bed itself only got a little dent in the end of it. She was pissed, I had a new class project...

So yes, it could have been much worse......

You could grab one at a junkyard for almost nothing probably. You are VERY lucky when it comes to people hitting your car. I've needed to replace my suspension and have 1.5k in bodywork from inattentive/dumb drivers (although the 1.5k was paid by the friendly USPS after they hit me) I sometimes think I should have gotten a disposable car like a corolla that I don't care about but then again, why drive a boring car if you don't have to?

File a police report

People who do hit and runs, should be shot. There's no excuse for it, other than cowardice. "Run so we don't have to pay for anything!".

Screw them. File a report, hopefully someone will find out who did it. Highly unlikely, but wouldn't it be sweet?

Both of our SD's have been victims of hit and runs. I was side swiped by a drunk in a chevy corsica at night a few years ago. Damaged my passenger rear door and trim etc...

Then my dad got rear ended in his SD last summer while sitting at a light, slammed pretty hard. The guy's front end was smashed, and my dads car sustained damage, rear doors closed tight etc....required $850 at the body shop to do some panel/trunk repairs and to put it on the frame rack to pull the impact back out.

What did the guy do after hitting him? He backs up, floors it into the opposing lane of traffic past a school bus with its STOP sign on unloading kids....proceeds to run a red light and go roaring down a street. Truly an example of firing squad material.

They say 1 in every 100 adults in the USA is in prison.....while that may be true, realistically it should probably be more like 20 in 100 based on my day to day experiences.

This is when its nice to drive a car capable of easily caching and staying with anyone that might hit you.

I was hit and run at a stoplight on a motorcycle, I had only some bruising on my arm with minor cosmetic damage to the bike, as it was a fairing less "standard"

Easily caught and stayed with the person that hit me and easily avoided their attemps at brake checking me.

They became amazingly nice once I got face to face with them.

I agree, my hit and run could have probably been avoided if I had been driving a 420 or higher at the time. The person was sitting waiting to turn at a flashing red, I had the yellow flashing, so I proceeded through, they darted out right as I was coming past them (I think they may have intended to ram me), so I swerved and floored it, but the o'l diesel didn't do much more than grunt and downshift. Had I had a nice V8....I could have probably been 100% out of reach by the time they got close enough.

At least my damage was to a door, those can be replaced. The other persons car was thrown aside by the impact. (a flimsy corsica) I could have sideswiped them back and ran them into a telephone pole or tree along the road at 30 mph....but I refrained.
