Removing Temp. Control box behind glovebox?

http://catalog.worldpac.com/mercedes...trol+Regulator

Was going to try to clean the contacts before work and was wondering if this is a long process. It is 'behind' or in 'front' of the dash? I have about 1/2 hour to mess with now with only a few tools.

thanks.

If I could piggyback onto this, what exactly does that magic box do? We get a lot of AC questions {which will be hitting soon!} but I can't really remember anybody having trouble with that before.

It controls the solenoids (changeover valves) behind the CCU that send or vent vacuum to the pods.

Good point. I'm going outside right now to inspect my prob now.

Anyone got freon? My dad has a 10 gallon supply but won't send me any. Talk about child abuse.

well. Obviously you just remove the kick place on the side and the panel under the dash.

I removed the connection and it looks new from the factory. Still cleaned though but I can't figure out what/where is that piece that is covered in foam which falls apart to check on. Only one connection going to the box.

I did tear a 90 degree rubber line going to a round, black fan thing with a connection on it?

Isn't the temp. sensor intake on yours overhead near the mirror?

I think the foam you are talking about is above the trim panel that the visors are attached to. The previous owner, on mine, just pulled the end out near the drivers side and is hanging there.

I am not familiar with the differences on the '85, but suspect that the other end of the tube attaches to the "round, black fan thing" which draws air across the sensor.

126 headliner temp removal?

I haven't pulled the glove box but I see the hose that goes up along the side of the inside pillar. I can see the sensor and decided to ask you guys on the proper method to take off the front headliner, just to even see if the 'foam hose' is ok or not.
