I should add that the first thing I need is a good 240D specific workshop manual , can anyone suggest one ? My local auto parts shop stocks one , but it only deals with 200D ,240 TD ,300 D and 300TD ...not the 240 D that I need !

It looks very nice

I like the color, seems like a different yellow then I have seen around here. What is the interior color and is it a 4 speed. It does look like they made a mistake when the built it and put the steering wheel on the wrong side. Did they do that with the pedals also? Jeep made a mistake like that a number of years ago and sold most of them to the US Post Office. Still see my mail girl driving one at times. Well, we do hope you enjoy the forum. It is a lot of fun, and it has helped a lot of Benz owners who try to avoid the Stealer. The Stealer really doesn't want to see most of us anyway, so that makes everyone happy.

She's a manual 4 speed ,cream interior ,very neat inside .Some rust in the doors but none in the body .I'll get them repaired and done well .As to the steering and controls , you see that a lot over here ....the result of the place flipping upside down , I'd reckon. Still works though !

Welcome Peter. I purchased the CD-ROM FSM from www.MBUSA.com. Check on the left side of the webpage for listings. Or call 1-800-FOR-Mercedes.

Yup, the W123 diesel haynes manual covers your car and is OK for basics. Use the FSM if you intend to do heavy work. Also, this forum has tons of good info. Welcome.

Yeah - East Coast of Oz sounds like somewhere in California to us midwest guys - not Sydney Australia!

Nice looking car - I like the color.

Welcome aboard. Great car -- great site for those of us with such cars. I'd surely be lost (MB wise) without this site.

Welcome Peter. Great to have another MB'er from the other side of the globe. You will find so much information here with the search function, and also when you ask a specific question.
We love pics, love to see folks cars, and your's is no exception. We'd love to have a look at that interior and engine bay too. Many times yall's cars are fitted much differently than ours. Take those factory mud flaps for instance, and the controls on the opposite side. Wild to see.
BTW, I'm quite partial to Yellow 1980 240D 4 speeds......

Trailer hitch and all........

Welcome Peter! Nice w123

Here's the direct link to the MBUSA classic literature section where you can order your FSM (what John was indirectly linking to):*

http://www.classictechlit.mbusa.com/MB/

Here's the other link that Charlie was having trouble with:

http://www.pauldrayton.com/uploadfiles/merc/Service/Library.html

*If you reside outside the US, I don't believe MBUSA will send the CDs to you.
