Re Acetone Question

My mechanic is from the old country and worked for the Company for 45 years. Whenever he changes my spin on fuel filter he fills it with transmission fluid. He does so to clean the injectors and I guess it's easier than fishing diesel from somewhere. The real goal is to avoid losing the engine prime of fuel. Anyway, he mentions I should throw in a quart every once and a while just to clean things out. He feels that tranny fluid is highly detergent. He's been working on my cars since I was 19. I'm 63 now. You could also try Marvel Mystery Oil if you like. I think that does about the same.
