Could the rear 300TD be matted onto a 240D?

Had a crazy thought. I'm parting out a 300TD and wondering, could the backend be welded onto a 240D. Hmmm. Odd idea, but maybe fun?

I think it wouild be easier to find a 240TD. They are out there but really rare in the US.

What would you do about the rear suspension SLS hydraulic system?

I know, I let a clean one go for $3,000. Needed doors.

Beef up the 240D rear suspension?
I know, this all seems like alot of work, and in the end it would be a frankenstein most likely, and unsafe.
My MIG is just looking for something to do. I hate to throw out the rear 1/4's of the car even thought they are "a little rusty".

The stopper is the location of the fuel tank. Under the rear floor in the td, above the rear axle in the sedan.

I'll have to look at that. Seems like something could be done with that. Going to need a WVO tank anyways. WVO flame suite ON.

What would be cool is to use as much of the 240D as possible. I know that the 300TD's doors are different.

And yes, I'd also like to make a 4x4 300TD.

Smart. I was looking at the wagon tonight thinking how could I get this on a 240D and thinking along your lines. Going to go into photo editing and see what it would look like.

The more I look at a picture of a wagon I just don't see where there are good places to cut and reweld, to much work and structually it wouldn't be the same, or it would take to much work to come close. Just another random thought in my head again. Reality is thats to time consuming for this 45 year old.
Anyone need some quarters? Well top quarter. I'm going to atleast cut the part out at the rear near the end of the trim where they tend to rust. Mine are solid and could help as rust repairs on another wagon.
