Horrible Noise and can't get up to 40

So driving home from church tonight and theres this HORRIBLE Sound like a; taka taka taka with some screeching. And my speed started to drop down from 45 all the way to 30. Tried to engage the kick down switch but, I got nothing. So, I think I've heard someone say that a similar sound will coem form failed flex disc. I really need to know what his problem could be because we are already down to one car. (Brother's truck has a bad rod bearing so he's using mom's car.) I just hope that its not too much. (Just for reference I only have about 300$ available)

If you had a failed flexdisk it wouldn't be moving at all. What you have sounds like an engine suffering from no oil pressure.

I too have Don's ominous thoughts. What does the engine sound like at idle? What does it look like under the hood? How much oil is in it?

"Screeching"

(I hate to ask,I know from personal experience)

Is the Screeching Very Metallic sounding?

[then you've probably "Spun a Bearing"]

(If so pray it's a Rod Bearing,You may be able to "Rotate" one in with the
engine in the vehicle. The Mains are more tricky)

Just went and cranked it and it started up fine. (even in this nice crisp Miami weather) The pressure reading was all the way up to 45. Here is the kicker; took it for a test run. Got up to speed just fine (for a diesel). When I engaged reverse it would make the a noise much like metal hitting metal ( Very slowly, not combined with engine speed sounds like its associated with the rotation of the tires.)But, when I was going around 40-45 I only heard it a couple times) Mom drove it from church to subway, then to my church, (all in all about 14 miles) Which is when I took over driving and she told me how the car was acting. She didn't tell me when ti started but, she told me she could only go 40 (speed limit is 45..she usually drives 50) I would go and test it a lil' more but, I rather not seeing how its quite late and dad isn't home yet. Ok so re-cap Sounds like its associated with the rotation of the wheels and not rotation of the engine. Doesn't always rotate AS the same speed as the wheels. After sitting for three hours it runs fine minus the noise. oil pressure is 45 I would call it normal if I knew it was normal. Ohand the noise sounds like it is metal hitting metal MAYBE a slight scraping noise but mainly like two pieces of metal catching/hitting. gosh that looks a lil' long. Thanks for all the help guys. Oh and one more thing oil reading is at the second indention this is the "MAX" oil marking Riiiiight? (running shell rotella 15w-40) just so I know what does "copper'd a bearing" mean?

Now the symptoms don't sound too bad. Could be something associated with brake calipers and rotors or a wheel bearing. Jack up each wheel and spin each one to see if you can replicate the sound.
Coppered a bearing means spinning a bearing. It no longer seems that this happened.

Agreed. CV joint or a dragging brake caliper with a dead set of brake pads on it. (metal on metal scraping)

I would look to see if your Parking brake shoes are stuck or suffering from broken linkage! This would be a lot easier to fix and would screech and clunk seizing up the wheel in the process.

coppering a bearing is when you run the engine low on oil and the crank wears into the bearing, wearing away the metal to the copper layer of the bearing
