Holy shizzle sticks!@#!@#!@#!@#

Anyone else know where to get bio cheap in Atlanta? That was the quote from SA White Oil I nearly dropped the phone....

ForcedInduction 03-13-2008 06:14 PM

Nobody said being green was cheap!

Come on, you know you want to save the world.... ;)

Dana B. 03-13-2008 06:16 PM

Bio-d sellers nearly always peg the prices of their veg-base products higher than No. 2 diesel. They're gougers. I won't touch the stuff -- until they put the consumer first.

pawoSD 03-13-2008 06:16 PM

I was going to call our local distributor about B100 today but I forgot....maybe tomorrow. :D

Anways, B100 here was $3.55 a gallon with a 250 gallon min order back when diesel was about $2.85....soooo....I'm guessing its at least $4.50+ for B100. :dizzy2:

lietuviai 03-13-2008 06:19 PM

That's "wholesale" robbery!

No thanks! At that price I'd stick with dino.

pawoSD 03-13-2008 06:23 PM

Like has been mentioned before, the entire process of producing B100 involves lots and lots of regular diesel....so in the end its not really a sustainable option and thats why it costs so much.

Algea based biodiesel might be an option.....lots of positive gain from the initial energy investment. It has the highest usable oil product per unit also, making it the most efficient way to produce the fuel.

thesst 03-13-2008 06:24 PM

here in Reno there is only one seller of bio-d. They charge $3.75/gallon for anything under 100 gallons, cheaper for more than that.

RichardLSU 03-13-2008 06:31 PM

come buy it from me for $2/gal :P

winmutt 03-13-2008 06:34 PM

This place was always 30-40cents less a gallon than reg diesel in the past, and they are a wholsaler, not just bio, all fuels.

I bet it will never find it's way into our fuel tanks. The oil companies will make sure of that. As long as the oil companies and the us govt are in the same bed together, we'll never see any good alternatives to petro fuels in this country.

GreenMedallion 03-13-2008 07:29 PM

I am part of a co-op in Los Angeles, we just got B99 for $4.10/gal. And that was a steal compared to some other quotes - $4.50, $4.20. Dino-D is rising too, and 89 unleaded is pushing $4 out here too. Definitely spending more time on the scooter these days!

beerdavis 03-13-2008 07:30 PM

Rob just dropped his blend from B50 to B20, but it is still cheaper than SA White. Hopefully, he will start selling B100 again soon.

thesst-who is the seller in Reno? The only one I know of is the Bi-State in Sparks and they only sell it though the cardlock last I heard. And it is only B5 they said. I'd like to know if there is another one.

rwthomas1 03-13-2008 08:26 PM

I just checked the price today. B99 at the pump is $3.55/gallon. Delivered to home, 100gallon minimum, $3.55/gallon. Average pump price today is $4.09 I'm looking into a home heating oil tank for my own fueling station..... RT

Richard Eldridge 03-13-2008 08:27 PM

B-99 in Hialeah Gardens, FL

Sun BioDiesel in Hialeah Gardens, FL, was charging $3.69 for B-99 today, March 13, 2008. Dino Diesel ranges from $3.92 to $4.08. If you are interested, they have a website, just google them. Not open on Sundays.

Their prices are usually about 20 ¢ below dino.

Allied Washoe on 4th (2500 East 4th St.) sells bio-d (B99.9) as well as kerosene and a bunch of other fuels.

It's a "bulk" fuel supplier but you can also just pull up to their bio-d pump and they'll fill you up, there's no minimums for their fuels, but the various fuels do get cheaper the more you buy.

When I went there last week it was $3.75/gallon for B99.9, and $3.45/gallon for kerosene.

thesst 03-13-2008 08:56 PM

also Bentley Biofuels in Minden sells B99.9 for about the same price.

H-townbenzoboy 03-13-2008 09:07 PM

Houston Biodiesel just went up to $3.69/gal today for B100. That's 10 cents more expensive than the cheapest diesel pump in town, and 30 cents cheaper than the most expensive diesel pumps in town.
Houston Biodiesel has really spiked up in its prices over the past few weeks in accord with petro diesel. On March 5th, they went up from $3.19 to $3.25, two days later they went from $3.25 to $3.40, and today, they went up 19 cents to their current price. As long as it's substantially cheaper than petrol diesel and meets ASTM standards for B100, I'll fill up with it. Even with the 10% loss in fuel mileage, I'll still come out slightly ahead than paying more for $4/gal diesel. I can run B100 for the time being without worrying about gelling, it's supposed to be about 90 degrees tommorow! But watch, it's probably going to be below freezing next week. That's Houston weather for ya.

thanks for the tip. I know right where they're at. Been wanting to try some in one of mine. That beats $5.45 for sure.

JimS 03-13-2008 10:04 PM

$5.45 a gallon for biodiesel . I buy B100 from my local co-op for $3.50 per gallon. Website is www.piedmontbiofuels.com. I can also buy from a producer in Raleigh, Triangle Biodiesel, for $3.00 per gallon in quantities as small as 5 gallons. That site is www.trianglebiodiesel.com. If you are local check these out. They also deliver for home storage.

Tell them you want B-99, that should save you 99 cents a gallon.

Another vote for Rob and Refuel. Simple to use, too.

I make it for around a $1.50 a gallon in my garage. :)

TheDon 03-14-2008 01:03 AM

i can get the stuff for $.20 under D2 from a place 10 miles from my place

bamba 03-15-2008 12:24 PM

co-op!

start a biodiesel co-op!

TheDon 03-15-2008 12:47 PM

I called the places that are close to me and no one ever seems to pick up the phone.. I leave message after message and still nothing...

Skippy 03-15-2008 06:12 PM

I just got B20 from Bently in Minden for $3.84. I spent about fifteen minutes talking with the guy there, and he said they can get you B100, but don't recommend it in the current weather. (It's snowing right now.) He also said they're going to build a regular-looking fuel station with c-store and various blends of biodiesel and ethanol.

Good to know, thanks for the update. Nice that they're not gouging like some are, that's the same price as it is in Reno as of yesterday. I only get down there once in awhile but if I do I can make sure and top off. Yeah, It's a little cool right now for B100 (as I watch the snow fly here)

jbach36 03-15-2008 07:27 PM

Make your own for 70 cents a gallon

I'd heard it's cheap to make your own. One guy's doing it actually for 50 cents a gallon. Plus you can use an excess to heat your home if you have a biodiesel heater.

i was there just the other day and it was $3.85/gal, which is only about 5 cents cheaper than the dino diesel in my area. its gone up 85 cents since the first time i went there about 4 months ago. their rent/property tax is probably going up alot in that neighborhood, so its probably not ALL gouging. alot more hippies moving into the area too, driving up demand ;)

biggmark97 04-02-2008 02:10 AM

at the Fast Fuel in Olympia Washington it 4.67 for B99 and 4.25 for B20. Dino was 3.96. methanol went up to 6 bucks a gallon from 1.90 (thanks to the new plant in Aberdeen) and now all the restaurant around here want money for used oil. otherwise I would still be making it. all setup but its just sitting there doing nothing.
