Look at the lane discipline! They get right the F over when they see a MB coming, they sure don't do that in this country.

I dunno, LOL people moved the eff out the way for me, Greasil was always ahead of the pack.....

I do have to agree with the lame group comment, What a POS song.....

and 130MPH is not THAT fast......
Honestly I would expect that car to do well over that.....

MB limits most of there cars to 130, at least in this country. Doesn't matter if its an E350, or S600. Thats lame.

Yeah tell me about it, first one I buy with a limiter I'm going to have Renntech defeat it. I just think its because they can get away with putting on H rated tires which are cheaper, and last longer. In Germany its politcal.

As well as environmental. It may sound "Big Brother"-ish but think of all the fuel/pollution it reduces to keep people driving a little slower. And 155 isn't exactly slow!

Also, 130mph is about double the US speed limits.....where would you be going anywhere close to that or exceeding it? I agree the thought of a limiter is saddening, but I doubt I'd ever have issue with it unless I was taking my SL65 to the tracks on weekends or something.

A 130 limit also helps our poor police driving their pre-historic and slow Crown Vic vehicles. Those things strain and sweat badly trying to see 130mph. 0-60 in 9.4 seconds on a cruiser is what I read....thats just sad. I've ridden in one before....and it felt slow and rev'd a lot.

I drive fast, you have to take it over 100 once in awhile to blow the cobwebs out. CT has some nice roads upstate, and VT is even better. My uncle used to have a cabin in middle of no where VT, we have toped out just about every car going up to it.

Whether or not you ever drive that fast isn't the point, its about being able to do it, because you can.

I can think of several roads around here where I could crank an SL65 up to some pretty good speeds. 100-125 is nothing, more so in a car like that.

The CL63 safety car for the Australian GP was doing OK last night, it got quite a work out. Slow for a F1 car is still pretty fast for anything else.

Street cars have to much mass to take corners like F1 cars. They are pretty much carbon fiber missles.

This year they are carbon fiber missiles without traction control, very interesting.

I need to start watching it again. I stopped following F1 a couple of years ago, when they went to V8's.

No traction control!? Wow, there must be a lot of them going into the walls!

It was starting to look like a drifting competition for a while, only 11 (I think) of 22 finished. It will be fun to see them the next time they run in the rain.

You guys are nucking futs!

130 mph, not fast enough? That's freakin' 191 feet per SECOND!!! Its insanely fast, and NO vehicle can make emergency maneuvers at those speeds should the need arise.

The difference between 130 and 155 mph is a bicyclist passing by you while you stand. In the case of ultimate speed, its 16% faster. But it requires about 100 hp or more to get there (130 hp in a W126)....Which means significantly more fuel (engine now draws on 100 + more hp), more engine wear, tires wearing at an insane rate, and danger being that much more real.

Brief spurts to these speeds I do, once in awhile...But never sustained... Anywhere! People should keep their speeds on interstates around 60 - 65 mph. You'd be amazed how much fuel one could save.

Thanks for the neat post as that video rings home with me. I got to drive a Euro Sport E Class Diesel wagon as a loaner from Mercedes for a week when we were over taking delivery of my wife's C320 wagon.
That car was fast as a rocket ship on the Autobahn. It was unbelievable at speed (240 KPH was fastest I would drive it and sweaty palmed the whole time was left blinker passed by a really sweet Audi while going 220KPH) and very stable. You do move over when you see someone coming with their left blinker on in the speed lane. They only have certain areas where you can run them wide open when you get near the outer rings of cities the speed limit is posted and pretty strictly enforced.
We got the car because I ordered my wife's C320 on the European delivery program in 2002. Her car took a dump (Command System fried the main computer) at the Stuttgart delivery facility. Literarily right after we drove it out of the delivery center and were driving it across the street to EH Harms to take care of the paperwork to ship it back before going on our trip around Bavaria.
When I got it back up to the front door of the facility in limp mode and hood smoking, my wife crying because her brand new car was dead, one of the Managers after a white coated technician from the back said they could not fix it because the parts had to come from another factory had his company car brought around from back and cleaned up for us.
He gave it to us for the whole trip (plus we got two sweet MB watches and leather jackets because they were so embarrassed). What a deal, even though we did not get to drive our own car on the trip, he gave us that silver sled with no real miles on it to drive for the week.
That video was great brought back some sweet memories.
