Proper way to drive a diesel MB...

Or any MB for that matter, foot to the floor WOT.:D

Autobahn=punch it.:cool:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6llGfK9iGY&feature=related

I find it funny that they are listening to a pretty weak American group, but they probably say that about us when we listen to Rammstein.:D

Look at the lane discipline! They get right the F over when they see a MB coming, they sure don't do that in this country.

BodhiBenz1987 03-14-2008 12:37 AM

Sexy.

We listen to Rammstein?

pawoSD 03-14-2008 12:55 AM

Looks like a sweet ride, they rev up quick! So quiet though, just a dull whine. Amazing. Thats some power, rocketed to 230km/hr with ease! Thats over 140mph!!

knipdlo 03-14-2008 08:29 AM

just like my 240d...

just kidding:P

Hit Man X 03-14-2008 06:55 PM

Nice. :)

Dieselkraut23 03-14-2008 07:53 PM

When i was over there they do move out of the way, but be sure you keep going fast....its scarry as F**k when they come up on you in that left lane coz they sure as hell dont slow down either.

Craig 03-14-2008 08:00 PM

I assume he had it right up against the speed governor.

matthias08 03-14-2008 08:02 PM

yea. for sure. haha. sadly enough... thats the way i drive our CDI over here.. :/

Mister Byrnzoil 03-14-2008 10:51 PM

I've seen Rammstein @ the Fox in boulder CO, not something I'll ever forget.

Thats a pretty intense vid, but I wish they'd have shown he tach.

SD Blue 03-14-2008 11:33 PM

It would have been a good video if you could hear the engine rather than the crap they were listening to.

I need to do a little tuning so mine runs like that. Ya think?

I'd be the guy coming up on you!:D

I could like fall asleep before that thing gets up any serious speed!:D

Not so with a more lively engine under the hood!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXwv5waY3m0&feature=related

So in the S class, the bi turbo V12 is the best engine to get!:D:cool:

Mainly so it can get you to the next gas station faster. :D ;)

Hatterasguy 03-15-2008 11:38 AM

Fuel burn doesn't matter.

OldPokey 03-15-2008 10:32 PM

Lame.

greasil 03-15-2008 10:35 PM

I dunno, LOL people moved the eff out the way for me, Greasil was always ahead of the pack.....

greasil 03-15-2008 10:40 PM

I do have to agree with the lame group comment, What a POS song.....

and 130MPH is not THAT fast......
Honestly I would expect that car to do well over that.....

That was Km right?

Hatterasguy 03-16-2008 12:42 PM

MB limits most of there cars to 130, at least in this country. Doesn't matter if its an E350, or S600. Thats lame.

greasil 03-16-2008 03:36 PM

Lame!!

Hatterasguy 03-16-2008 03:53 PM

Yeah tell me about it, first one I buy with a limiter I'm going to have Renntech defeat it. I just think its because they can get away with putting on H rated tires which are cheaper, and last longer. In Germany its politcal.

As well as environmental. It may sound "Big Brother"-ish but think of all the fuel/pollution it reduces to keep people driving a little slower. And 155 isn't exactly slow!

Also, 130mph is about double the US speed limits.....where would you be going anywhere close to that or exceeding it? I agree the thought of a limiter is saddening, but I doubt I'd ever have issue with it unless I was taking my SL65 to the tracks on weekends or something.

A 130 limit also helps our poor police driving their pre-historic and slow Crown Vic vehicles. :D ;) Those things strain and sweat badly trying to see 130mph. :D ;) 0-60 in 9.4 seconds on a cruiser is what I read....thats just sad. I've ridden in one before....and it felt slow and rev'd a lot.

Hatterasguy 03-16-2008 04:27 PM

I drive fast, you have to take it over 100 once in awhile to blow the cobwebs out. CT has some nice roads upstate, and VT is even better.:D My uncle used to have a cabin in middle of no where VT, we have toped out just about every car going up to it.

Whether or not you ever drive that fast isn't the point, its about being able to do it, because you can.

I can think of several roads around here where I could crank an SL65 up to some pretty good speeds. 100-125 is nothing, more so in a car like that.

The CL63 safety car for the Australian GP was doing OK last night, it got quite a work out. Slow for a F1 car is still pretty fast for anything else.

Hatterasguy 03-16-2008 07:48 PM

Street cars have to much mass to take corners like F1 cars. They are pretty much carbon fiber missles.

This year they are carbon fiber missiles without traction control, very interesting.

Hatterasguy 03-16-2008 08:16 PM

I need to start watching it again. I stopped following F1 a couple of years ago, when they went to V8's.

No traction control!? Wow, there must be a lot of them going into the walls!

It was starting to look like a drifting competition for a while, only 11 (I think) of 22 finished. It will be fun to see them the next time they run in the rain.

DslBnz 03-16-2008 08:49 PM

You guys are nucking futs!

130 mph, not fast enough? That's freakin' 191 feet per SECOND!!! Its insanely fast, and NO vehicle can make emergency maneuvers at those speeds should the need arise.

The difference between 130 and 155 mph is a bicyclist passing by you while you stand. In the case of ultimate speed, its 16% faster. But it requires about 100 hp or more to get there (130 hp in a W126)....Which means significantly more fuel (engine now draws on 100 + more hp), more engine wear, tires wearing at an insane rate, and danger being that much more real.

Brief spurts to these speeds I do, once in awhile...But never sustained... Anywhere! People should keep their speeds on interstates around 60 - 65 mph. You'd be amazed how much fuel one could save.

Hatterasguy 03-16-2008 08:54 PM

Says the guy with 350SD top end videos...:D;)

jcwicker 03-25-2008 11:49 PM

Thanks for the neat post as that video rings home with me. I got to drive a Euro Sport E Class Diesel wagon as a loaner from Mercedes for a week when we were over taking delivery of my wife's C320 wagon.
That car was fast as a rocket ship on the Autobahn. It was unbelievable at speed (240 KPH was fastest I would drive it and sweaty palmed the whole time was left blinker passed by a really sweet Audi while going 220KPH) and very stable. You do move over when you see someone coming with their left blinker on in the speed lane. They only have certain areas where you can run them wide open when you get near the outer rings of cities the speed limit is posted and pretty strictly enforced.
We got the car because I ordered my wife's C320 on the European delivery program in 2002. Her car took a dump (Command System fried the main computer) at the Stuttgart delivery facility. Literarily right after we drove it out of the delivery center and were driving it across the street to EH Harms to take care of the paperwork to ship it back before going on our trip around Bavaria.
When I got it back up to the front door of the facility in limp mode and hood smoking, my wife crying because her brand new car was dead, one of the Managers after a white coated technician from the back said they could not fix it because the parts had to come from another factory had his company car brought around from back and cleaned up for us.
He gave it to us for the whole trip (plus we got two sweet MB watches and leather jackets because they were so embarrassed). What a deal, even though we did not get to drive our own car on the trip, he gave us that silver sled with no real miles on it to drive for the week.
That video was great brought back some sweet memories.

FWIW MSP requirements for pursuit rated vehicles is a 9.2 Second 0-60. Dont forget we were running 351 Crown Vics that were doing 11 second 0-60s in the late 80s that were 'pursuit rated'

The 3.55 Equipped 2008 CVPI will run around 8.2 Seconds to 60. 8.36 for the 3.27 Equipped Car.

The CVPI has a Limit of 129mph with the 3.55 rear end, 133 with the 3.27 Rear end.

The Chevrolet Wimpala with the 9C1 Package runs 8.2 to 60 and a Top Speed of 142 mph.

Hemi Charger Police runs 6.2 to 60 and 148 mph

3.5L Charger Police 8.6 to 60 and 132 mph.

Police Tahoe, 8.3 to 60 and 127 mph.

The Hemi Charger and Police Tahoes are very popular now, but also the most expensive to buy. The 9C1 wImpalas are the cheapest to purchase, but a lot of Municipalities find that 9C1s have shorter service life, higher repair costs, and lower residual resale than the CVPI, which sports traditional full body on frame construction. The Impala is FWD and Unibody, and not as tough as a CVPI. I miss the B Body 9C1.

Ghost Rider outruns them all the time!:D:cool:

I know people who have passed cops at crazy high speeds, 150++ and they just kept going. Your better off pretending you didn't see them and get away than stop and get arrested.:D

I agree. I loathe Limpy Limply Bisquick and now this video too. I didn't know the hot dog flavored water infected those outside our borders. That is really sad. Of course, they Hassle the Hoff too.....so I suppose it shouldn't be surprising.

I'd wet myself at 130mph (sustained), I don't care what anybody says.

When I was young and foolish, I discovered the best thing to do is pull over immediately so they don't have to chase you and hope they don't bring you straight to jail. At best, you will just have to pay a large fine and you will get to go home with your license.

Pull off the highway, put the car in the garage for 6 months.:D

I love watching the Gumball video's in Europe they just ignore the cops and are in another country in like 5 minutes.:D Except for France those guys were jerks. A prince from Denmark invited them in after the police tried to ban the rally, so the cops couldn't do anything but watch!:D:cool:

Marrocco was the best, the cops lined up and watched the burn outs and had a grand old time. A Ferrari nailed a farm tractor and the cops were like to the farmer its no problem the government will handle it just forget about it.:D I guess whoever is in charge of Marracco loves the Gumball so they pretty much tell the police to help them and stay out of their way.:D:cool:

If I was a cop I'd let the nice cars go. If your in a POS like a Honda doing 120 your going to jail, if your in a MB or a nice European car I'd wave you on.:D
