Air Filter

I have an '81 300SD and have a problem with the air filter housing bracket breaking all the time. I am thinking of doing away with it and installing a K/N filter. Don't know where to get it. Need help with installation and maybe a picture.
THANKS

Fix the bracket and the idle vibration that breaks it. K&N filters are harmful to the engine, they do not filter well and allow dirt to pass into the turbo.

I had a loud shake on my SD, I wedged a muffler hanger between the air cleaner housing and the cam cover, so far so good.
Check **************com for an anti rattle kit.

I agree, the bracket is not a problem unless there is too much vibration. Make the vibration go away.

Forced, just curious but what kind of aftermarket air filter do you use. I only need a few more things to do an intercooler and im just curious

When I got my 300D it had the muffler hanger jammed in there also, however I've got a strong feeling that is the reason my valve cover gushes so much oil. Even with a new gasket it's quite bad, I wonder if that constant vibrating pressure made my cover all wonky.

Maybe, I recently adjusted valves, installed a new gasket, torqued to specs.

And it shall be called "wonky".

A wonky and a twokey.

On my key ring I have wonky and a fob.

Love it We need more technical terms that we can have fun with

I agree, fix the vibration and the mount won't break. 9 Mercedes and only 1 broken mount. On the sons new car when I got it.

If you have access to a welder, you can weld a 1/4" steel rod along the bracket perimeter to reinforce it.
