Would this injectors work?

1. Would the KCA30S44 inj out of a 603 turbo??? work in my 617 turbo??
The resason I'm asking is bc I can get new injectors for cheap...
2.If they would not work what kind of nozzles should I buy for my 617 turbo??? and where???
3. What size socket do I need to buy from the local Autozone to remove the injectors????

1. I don't know. This site shows different part numbers, but they look similar.

2. Folks keep talking about Bosio nozzles. I hear they are good.

3. I would suggest that you avoid buying sockets (or most anything else) from autozone. If you must, I don't know the socket size off the top of my head, but if you drive your car there and take a crescent wrench with you, you can use it kind of like a micrometer. You can take it inside and compare to socket sizes. If I had woken up a little earlier this Saturday I could have had a more definite answer for this one

#2 DN0 SD 265 nozzles from C Sean Watts on this forum
#3 1 1/16th 1/2 inch drive deep socket fits fine, must be 1/2 drive to get it deep enough

I bought a 1-1/16th and 1/2 inch drive, but it doesn't seem to be deep enough?? I don't have a injector to actualy test it since my car is in garage right now. Would it clear the return pipes on the inj??? I don't wanna drive 40 miles to my garage to find out that I got the wrong socket on a sunday.

-last week. My socket was an older Craftsman. It cleared the return line pipes and filled the socket pretty full. I had a moment looking at it thinking 'now I screwed up my return lines and this socket is not going to go on far enough, but it dropped right on. I don't know if all 1 &1/16th Deep sockets will fit though. ( no way a 3/8s drive is deep enough though!)

Ohh...according to diesel giant article the 1 and 1/16th deep socket should work fine!!! 2 people can't be wrong, I'm just making sure...
I dropped the idea of buying 602 inj bc I already have 2 sets of 617T in need of a rebuilt.
I'm thinking of buying 5 nozzles from the FastLane store, the O.E.M Bosch replacement, however I hear lots of negative stuff abt these nozzles that are made in diff countries and diff. quality????
Everybody seems to sweet talk the Bosio nozzles, but I would always trust Bosch before any other...

A 1-1/16" socket will work but its never good practice to use American sizes on Metric parts and vice versa. They may be close but still not the right fit.

This size is an exception -- 1 1/16 is exactly 26.9875mm. If you can't be 0.0125mm too small, then you probably couldn't get the 27mm metric on the bolt anyway

Agreed.

1 1/16 is 1.0625"

27mm is 1.0630"


Believe me.........the fastener won't know the difference.

Three sets of injectors within two weeks tells me a deep well 27mm 1/2 inch works fine- except with a VW AAZ injector- which is too tall.

The ones I was putting on are AAZ. (with monarch 265 nozzles from Sean). They do fill the socket all the way, The 'nut' faces that the socket are hooking up to are not completely in the socket but they are in more than 1/2 way. Craftsman 1/2 inch drive,1 1/16 Deep.
Slightly off topic, I have only started it, idled, and once around the block, no insurance. I am changing the shocks and installing the vogtland shocks over the next couple of weeks then switching my insurance from the 300SD so I can drive it and see how all this works out.
First impression on the AAZs maybe a bit quieter, -probably wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't listening for it, maybe a bit smoother....Can't wait!

So the nozzle from a 603 works in a 617? Is there any advantage to be had in doing this?

Concerning the nozzles I would PM C Sean Watts first. If you buy Bosch nozzles on the internet you will not know what country they are made it. I would besure that they were made in Germany or France if I was going to buy Bosch. Bosio nozzles have a good rep but are around $37 dollars each when I looked 6 months ago (you have to register on their site to view the prices).

Well Sean sells the Monarch nozzles. So far I have only heard good things about the nozzles and Sean. I paid less than $20 each for the nozzles, $2 for heat shields, and a bit for insurance and shipping. I bought 2 sets for 2 cars-with shields,, and even with insurance, it was still under $250.( o.k. UPS added $20 but thats them) I'm happy!
