Would you use Walmarts SuperTech transmission fluid?

I have to change the transmission filter and fluid on my car. I called the parts place, they said to use Dextron III fluid. I went to Walmart, all they had left on the shelf, was their SuperTech brand, which says it can be used in cars that require Dextron II or III.

Maybe the exact molecular structure is not up to the Mercedes brand, but I'm assuming this stuff will work just fine.

What d'ya think?

as long as its Mercon Dextron III certified.. go for it.. and make sure its MKDIII and not a universal... go to autozone

I stick with Mobil/Valvoline products

for the small difference in cost i think i would stick with the name brand stuff, might be just as good, might not but for a few bucks is it worth the chance? Transmission repairs are VERY expensive. My $.02 Don

I've been using it for over a year now. I've never been picky about tranny fluid, as long as its all the same. and I'm cheap so Walmart ATF is it. plus, when i did my engine swap i needed ATF and it was 1 AM.... off to the all night Walmart!

If it says it meets the Dexron III standard, then you know it meets the mnimum required for that standard. Premium fluids usually are better, pick your poison it's your car.

I am putting supertech into the Rav4 at its oil change soon. :D $7 for a 5qt jug....super cheap. Also, supertech is indeed made in USA.

I'd never use such a product in my MB though.

Can't remember who makes it (almost certain it's US made), but the SuperTech synthetic motor oil is supposed to be pretty damn good stuff from what I've read (despite the fact that it's so cheap). I would imagine that their tranny fluid would be just fine. It might be worth checking out "bobistheoilguy" forum for more info.

It's Your Transmission

BUT, Me I like Mobil1,Redline,Amsoil.

Engine oil lubricates.

ATF does everything, and if I'm gonna ask a lot of it...I want top quality,
tested,synthetic.

I am exactly the same.... But not maybe as cheap as you are. :D I have 15,000 miles on that wally stuff, works and shifts fine. But I think it is due for a change, because I like to change tranny fluid every 15,000 miles.

Wal*Mart ATF is made by Warren Oil (Warren Unilube)

This forum is on technical issues, not on Chinese or Walmart bashing. I would go for SuperTech any time. This is like generic and name brand stuff, they are all the same. Your transmission cannot tell the difference anyway even if they are not.

Super Tech

It's the same heavy duty stuff they sell at Fleet Farm and TSC. I believe it's from Phillips Petroleum, just repackaged like any generic is done. I've used their oil and tranny fluid (power steering pump) in my Peterbilt with good results. I wouldn't worry about it . . . in fact, I'm running their 15/40 oil in my 300D right now and it's holding up well.
